Right now I have one spawn going.
The setup:
-a cycled, 10 gallon tank w/ about 8 gallons.
-submersible heater set for 80ºF
-a chunk of java moss
-sponge filter
-IAL
I just condition the pair for a few weeks, put the male in the spawn tank after he has a nice bubblenest going on his jar. I let him roam the tank for a day. Then I put the female in. I almost always get a spawn within the next two days.
Here's some horrible, yet you get the point, pictures. They were taken not even 5 minutes before this post with a camera that has no focus adjustment.
the spawn tank with pair spawning.
male w/ his shitty, yet functioning, bubblenest.
female with that, ".. get it over with already." look.
Like always, criticism is welcomed. If I somehow succeed with this spawn and raise the fry, offspring will be available at the beginning of Spring. |

those are great pics sean, you need more floating plants a little less water and and no lights at all black it out if you have to and check on them with a flash light from time to time.
and i say what ever works.im more of a natural person.let them spawn in ponds ya know those little home depot ponds.then when the fry get a little older put them in a bigger pond if you dont they will grow small. remember bigger pond bigger fish small ponds small fish i cant tell you how important that is.good luck _________________ 2 MALE THAI/VIET

okay well since you say that bigger the pond bigger the fish smaller the pond smaller the fish...i personally do not have a pond because i live in a apartment, so if i were to breed a pair and got some fries, they would end up growing up in a 15 gallon tank..does this really mean my fries will be smaller than they would be if grown in a pond?...what im really asking is does anyone else have this experience? because im sure alot of breeders here in the US use 10-20 gallon tanks to raise their fries. and did they turn out just like you thought? _________________ back to a shitty begining. =< |

hello,
really you dont have to have a 10 0r 20 gallon tank, what you can do is go to a office supplie store and buy the biggest rubber maid type container some are 70 to 100 gallons and they come with a top. fill 1/3 of the container with playground sand and get a good heater for a 100 gallon tank and a waterfall filter there fairley cheap and som floating plants and you should be in good shape when i gets some pics of my fish room inside and out ill post them good luck to you and hane a marry christmas .oh and keep you 10 and 15 gal to grow live foods in _________________ 2 MALE THAI/VIET

all u need is a lucket which can hold 3 litres of water.
the water level for breeding is best @ 6 inch
put a leave inside until it turns brown
cut a plastic transparent and put inside,
put the conditioned pair inside, and u'll see the male start bubblenest very soon, shld see the eggs in 1 or 2 days time.
congrats, remove female.
after remove female, wait for eggs to hatch and than the fries to be free swimming stage, than tis time u prepare a big tank filled wif water, and pour all the remaining fries inside the new tank. and feed wif/ daphane. tis is the best breeding method n the most straight foward it can get.
=)

once you pour all the remaining fry in the larger container, i belive lots of them would die right? i want to do that, but im afraid my fries will die because they are so fragile. _________________ back to a shitty begining. =< |

i belief u has very experience wif/ breeding.
no, they will not die. infact their survival rate is very high. do a water change often.. every couple days.
u can try, take my words to a challenge, hahaa...
=) u can rest assure on my words..
and remember to feed em. and more kepatang leaves inside.
good water and feeding = results U survival rate. _________________ Keeping fish is easy

They will be fine.I breed my fish in a small bucket and do the same as chris says.Or I will breed in a small plastic shoe box you can get them for a dollar or two. They work great cuz it keeps the whole tank shallow wich helps the male watch the falling eggs and the baby fry. |
